We made it to Washington DC and back! We couldn't have asked for a better trip because we saw everything on our itinerary and more. The weather was also very favorable. Early November proved to be a delightful time in DC, and we avoided all the long lines that exist during the spring and summer. We saw all the important landmarks, memorials (the new WWII Memorial is very impressive), museums and monuments. We also learned how to take the Metro system of public transportation. We saw the President fly in from Camp David while we were in front of the White House. We heard and watched an argument presented in the Supreme Court only to read about it in the newspaper the next day. We even got the scoop about Colin Powell resigning and Condoleezza Rice taking his position before we came home to hear it on the news! We were up front and center when the President delivered his speech on Veteren's Day.
This was definitely a trip to remember, and a unique opportunity for the girls to see history in action.
