Kindergarten

You're a big girl now!

Kindergartners can be seen tracing their feet and cutting out colorful "footprints." With these, they "measure" their classroom and beyond! They compare foot sizes and enjoy reading The Foot Book by Dr. Suess. They write group stories about their experiences to share at home with parents. With the help of talented teachers and parents, they make dyes from vegetables and produce colorful t-shirts for their field trips. There are crystals of all colors growing about the room and eager exploration of experiments. Afternoon centers buzz with activity. The transition into real school is filled with activities, new friends, nurturing adults, and a world of learning!

Mornings are filled with opening (perhaps shared with the very grown-up first graders), a systematic program for reading and math, and the individual attention needed to be a successsful and productive "student."
